New Project, Who this?

You heard it!

I’m working on something new, something wishful, something wild!

Despite my love for our favorite Double Trouble Duo, I need a bit of breather from Cecily and Frost’s antics. There’s only so much eight-year-old I can write before I feel like I’m going cross-eyed and need to start screaming in Pig Latin.

So, I’ve started a new project. If you’re following me on Instagram, you’ll know that the project is going to be title Plummet. Like Reborn: As a Defective Drake (RADD), this will be a fairly long series with an emphasis on fantasy and magic.

Mostly because I can’t do anything without a complicated, multi-book plot. It’s a problem, just ask my editor or artist!

But regardless, I do have an exciting new project in the works! As a teaser, I’ve provided the summary and some concept are below! Let me know what you think!

Would you choose a coddled life of luxury or gamble for a life of hard-won freedom?

Does the sweetness of freedom overcome the bitter stench of desperation?

Engagement. Marriage. A life picked for her, by everyone but her.

Coromi finds herself bound to a magical engagement that she doesn’t want to an elf she barely knows.

Is this all that life has for her? To be married and then disappear into the mundanity of normal life?

Yet, there is only one magic strong enough to overwrite the Heartbond’s power: The Contract of The King.

An ancient contract that binds a soldier’s life in fealty to the king, for the duration of their enlistment. Originally there to ensure complete loyalty, this contract also has the ability to cancel or overwrite any other magical geass it comes into contact with, for no bond is mightier, than the bond to kingdom and Hometree.

There’s just one problem.

Only elves can enlist.

Yet, Coromi won’t let that stop her! Disguised as an elf, she  embarks on a dangerous journey across the mangrove. Destination: The Salamander Corp!

As you can see, this is going to be an exciting new adventure! And, not to spoil everything, but there are two key details that I’m still working on getting into the summary somewhere.

  1. The elves in question are all of a centimeter or two tall. They’re tiny! And the world they live in is a massive mangrove swamp! Because of this, I’ve had to get pretty creative when writing about even just simple things like food or how they get around. But, it does lead me to the second important detail about the series.
  2. This series is about an elveen who flies on the back of a dragonfly. As in, remember the dragon rider genre that Eragon started? Well, this is similar, but with a teeny tiny elveen and a six-legged, four-winged dragonfly. I’m looking forward to delving into the life of a dragonfly rider and writing the intense, fast-paced aerial combat that’s going to come with it.

I’m so excited to be writing Plummet! To be honest, this story’s been on the brain since my sister and I were thirteen. It’s wonderful to finally begin writing it out. Now, as promised, here is some of our first concept art below!

This is Coromi! She’s our hero for this story. She’s a young elveen who wants to travel and see the world outside her tiny cove in the southern mangroves. Over the course of the series she’ll grow from a merchant’s daughter into a cadet, a warrior, and eventually even a leader!

This is Coromi undercover as a cadet! To be honest, I’m almost positive we won’t be using this design for the cadet uniform, but it’s still pretty neat, right?

Anyway, I’m expecting to publish Plummet, Book One, in the fall of 2025. To stay up to date on the latest news on it or RADD, please make sure to subscribe. I’ll be posting sneak peeks, bestiary pages, ARC copies, free giveaways, and more as I get closer to finishing!
